This infusion is based on the recipes of the Abruzzese monks that date back to the Middle Ages. Gentian root is combined with other digestive herbs, barks and berries that mitigate the bitterness of the gentian. The result is a complex ‘amaro’ tonic with a warm amber colour, rich herbal aroma and pleasant fresh aftertaste.
Ghentiane liqueur is a powerful digestive that can be served after a meal at room temperature 15-18°C to allow for full appreciation of the bouquet of herbs. It can also be served neat of over ice as an aperitif.
Infusi dall’Eremo (Infusions from the Hermitage)
This cooperative based near L’Aquila produces a range of herbal tonics based on the original medieval recipes of the monks using ingredients sourced from Abruzzo’s national parks. The raw materials are carefully selected and can be traced to origin and collection.
The tonics are made via cold infusion where the leaves, flowers, roots and berries are macerated in alcohol to extract the aromas, flavours and therapeutic constituents. They contain no preservatives or additives.
