NV Franciacorta DOCG 750ml

Description

The name Franciacorta is used as a designation, like the name "Champagne" for the sparkling wines produced in the Franciacorta in the province of Brescia in Lombardy. Similar to Champagne, it is made using the traditional method of secondary fermentation within the bottle, and with the same grape varieties. That is where the similarities end.

Franciacorta has an Alpine climate which is low elevation but influenced by nearby mountains. The grapes produce a rich and balanced base wine, which then undergoes secondary fermentation within the bottle for a minimum of 24 months for the Satèn (the minimum requirement for Champagne in 15 months).

The Chardonnay grapes for this wine are picked a little bit later to achieve greater ripeness. Satèn cannot exceed 5 bars of pressure which imparts a softer, creamier mouthfeel.

The wine is elegant, rich and multilayered with fragrances of peach, apricot and tropical fruit.
